Civil Rights Protections For All

I will vigorously defend and advance the rights of, and opportunities for, minority citizens.

I will support efforts to root out official discrimination.

I will vote against any proposals to making voting more difficult.

I will work closely with the Legislative Black Caucus.

I will vote against any proposals to restrict the rights of gay and lesbian citizens.

I will work to help immigrants and newly naturalized citizens become a fully integrated and welcome part of our communities. I encourage immigrants to learn to be fluent in English and become active in our local communities while they encourage their American born children to learn their language and follow the religious faith of their parents.

I have a track record of defending civil rights. In 2005 while serving as the Political Action Committee Chairman of the Bucks County NAACP, I alerted the state and national NAACP to a Republican amendment to a state House bill that would have taken away the right to vote of former prisoners who are out on probation or parole. We sent letters on this to every state senator and Governor Rendell and were able to defeat this amendment in the state senate.

“Liberty and justice for all” means exactly what it says.
