He is an ineffective legislator. After 14 years in office, he has very little clout in Harrisburg and very little to show for. Other House members do not take him seriously and he rarely does anything worthy of state-wide press coverage. He is merely taking up space in our House seat.
He votes against the interests of the middle class.
He votes against labor, the environment, and education.
He voted to allow negligence by corporations to go unpunished.
He voted against adopting a stronger hate crimes law.
In his 14 years in the legislature, he has yet to deliver promised real estate tax reduction.
He follows the orders of the Republican Party, the party of George Bush, Rick Santorum, and county Republican Party boss Harry Fawkes.
Common Cause/Pennsylvania Executive Director Barry Kauffman has stated that State Representative Gene DiGirolamo and State Senator Robert ‘Tommy’ Tomlinson “have not played any leadership role in government integrity matters, nor have they been dependable supporters of government integrity initiatives.”
DiGirolamo voted in 2005 to make the disgraceful practice of “ghost voting” (a.k.a. proxy voting) permissible for House members. “Ghost voting” is a new low in government accountability and integrity.

He did not speak out against the unconstitutional legislative pay raise.
Despite 14 years in Harrisburg, he almost never participates in debates on bills before the House (watch State House proceedings on PCN cable channel 78).
DiGirolamo’s party, the party of George Bush and Rick Santorum, has controlled the legislature for too long and does not represent middle class interests. As a Democrat, I WILL do better.
Unlike Republican Representative DiGirolamo, I will vote and work for the interests of working people, the environment, and our public schools.
